Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Award (HOBY)

               For Sophomores ONLY!

The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Award (HOBY) is offered to sophomores. HOBY programs provide youth with unique leadership training to make a better world. HOBY seminars teach young leaders "how to think, not what to think"--creatively, critically, and compassionately. A Primary Ambassador and an Alternate Ambassador from Eminence will be selected to attend a state leadership seminar.  It allows sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community.  Selected students attend a three or four day seminar and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a posivitve impact in their commuity.  For additional information, visit HOBY's website.

Application Process:  Interested candidates will write an essay about leadership in the Fall of the school year and then will participate in an interview process with school administration.
Topic:  In 100 words or less, please describe the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school and community.
